Memories in the making (summer 2015)

The girls at Lady Ballers camp have been doing so many fun activities this summer. Some of them are Tie-dye, sports, portrait painting, go-karting and so much more.

They made so many memories together and they are still continuing to make more! These memories are going to stick with them for the rest of their lives. "I know that I have made lifelong friends in all the girls" said Debbie Miller, one of the campers.

The girls have already spent 4 weeks together but they are nowhere near tired of camp. They always show up the next morning with smiles on their faces, ready to face the day planned for them. They engage in all the activities with enthusiasm and energy. This good-spirit leaves a smile on all the counsellors and volunteers faces. "I love showing up to camp everyday, just so I can see the smiles on all the campers faces", says Toyo Ajibolade, the camp coordinator.

The girls are having a blast at camp and want the world to know.

The truth about nutrition

A lot of people have a very inaccurate idea of what being "healthy" is. Being healthy has nothing to do with being a certain weight or shape. That's being NOTtritious. To achieve being healthy, you don't have to necessarily eat less but you do have to look at what you are eating and make sure that it is nutritious.

What is nutrition?

Nutrition is the foods needed to live a healthy life and to assist the body in proper growth. The nutrients we need to live are carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. We also need fiber, vitamins, minerals, and water. To get proper nutrition, you have to eat foods that contain the things you need to survive.

Aside from food, living a good life also involves being healthy in your mind and spirit as well as your body. From the beginning of our life all the way to this exact moment, nutrition has been at work in one way or another.

To be healthy we need to maintain some level of exercise along with having proper eating habits. We also need to reduce the amounts of stress we face on a daily basis. Stress will only make things worse. Lastly we need to realize that nobody is perfect and when trying to get healthy, you should make your own realistic goals and not try to achieve others goals for you.

Comics from camp

Hello everyone,

Lady Ballers Camp has a series of very talented staff and campers. A few of them have come together to make some comics for you! After sorting through all of them, we found two that captured our camp perfectly. We hope you enjoy them!

This first comic shows keywords that tell everyone what Lady Ballers Camp is all about: Fun, Friendship, Health, Fitness, Leadership and Teamwork. This comic is Lady Ballers Camp in a nutshell.

This next comic is one of our personal favorites over here at Lady Ballers Camp. We like it so much for 3 reasons. 1. It shows unity in all the girls at the camp which is something we strive to accomplish. 2. The comic represents the basketball aspect of the camp. We do many things but basketball will always be important. 3. How cute are the little girls in the comic?! we think this whole comic is absolutely adorable.

Well, we have showed you our favorites and hope you like them as much as we do. Thank you for reading and join us next time!

12 steps to a healthier you

It is amazing how easily you can improve your state of health. You can achieve a healthier you by doing a few simple things. This is lady ballers 12 steps to a healthier you.
1. Replace sodas with water or even real fruit juices.
2.Get at least 7 to 8 hours of sleep each day.
3.Try to eat organic foods.
4.Add 10 extra minutes to a work-out and if you don't currently have a work-out start with 10 minutes a day.
5.Try eating a healthy amount from each food group each day.
6.Take 15 minutes a day for yourself.
7.Take less medication. If you have a headache don't go straight to the pain killers. Try taking a nap.
8.Don't watch so much television. Try reading a book or going to a news source.
9.Eat what your body needs not what your mind wants.
10.If you have a stressful lifestyle try taking a relaxing bath to calm your nerves.
11.Try blending spinach with fruits and making a healthy smoothie (trust me you don't taste the spinach),
12.Eat more whole wheat and whole grain products.
